speaking of that C n D letter--it said that "copies will be sent to all relevant parties..."
...and it was. I have received word from a very reliable source that those lunatics really sent one to each of the LOTR cast and their agents.

Well, I guess everyone knows the score now.

They are really something. That something can't be said on television. Good lord.

I hope the fanwankers tune in for this, too--I owe them a laugh. I forget who called this the Titanic of wanks, but it has now exceeded that title. I don't even have an apt replacement for it, it's just so...so...

*falls over from utter speechlessness*

However, from now on I plan to refer to Bit of Earth as Scrap of Crap. At least that name seems sufficiently appropriate.

Your wish is my command.

That's just priceless!

And the best part... thank you Abby and Amy for telling people where to connect to reality!

The giggling and pointing will carry on with, one hopes, even more viewers!

*laughs uncontrollably*

No fucking way. They sent that hilarious C and D to each LOTR cast member? WTF for?

Turi, you have the patience of a saint. And obviously the heart of one too. When I first started chatting in Barliman's, you were one of the ones who impressed me most as being kind and funny and very intelligent.

I can't believe it's come to this.

Ah, what can one expect when we fandom_wankers are but Turimel's minions in the eyes of Abby and Amy?

How is it that they cannot comprehend that they are much beloved by our community as a source of spooge that it takes the *enitre* HP fandom to equal?

A&A, wankage on demand...

Did they really? May I ask where you heard that? 'Cause if it can be proven they did, this should go to Mock the Stupid as well as Fandomwank.

Make that 'Mock the Deluded.'

that I can't actually tell you who it is. Suffice it to say that there were two people who passed this information on, because they had each received one. You know a lot of those LOTR people are meeting the public right now because they were all on this side of the Pacific Ocean for the Oscars. More I shan't say because unlike Those Two, I don't want to violate their privacy any more than it already has been. Just enough to serve Justice.

Words have just failed me. Can they possibly believe that gambit will elevate them in the eyes of the Lotr people? If they do, then they need therapy and lot of antipsychotic drugs.

Of course wehat we really want to see is any responses from the reps for the cast and crew. Now THAT would be interesting reading.

I bet the agents peed themselves laughing.

I was trying to eat lunch here but I can't close my jaw enough to eat! I need to send a fake C&D to VB, OB and DT for rendering me unable to eat. Granted I can stand to lose a few pounds but I'd probably die of dehydration in a week.

I've gotten feedback from 3 people/businesses that have seen the C n D letter. All of them were angry. Two of them did not appreciate seeing their names/businesses used by Those Two to harass me and/or extort money from me.

Some may very well have initially laughed at the sheer wankiness of it all, but these are all busy and important people that have had their time wasted by Those Two in the past, and they have much better things to do than attend to a written temper tantrum.

I don't think any celebrities want to see their name associated with Bit of Earth, espcially in a document like that one. I hope someone decides to stand up to them. Probably won't happen, since Those Two are such pathetic small-fry losers in the grand scheme of things, but ya gotta hope.

Oh, I didn't mean the reactions would be funny, I just can't believe how someone can be so dense to send off this kind of letters to agents who actually know their laws. It smacks as incredibly stupid.
I'd probably explode from a mixture of anger and annoyance if I couldn't see the funny in it all; but then again it doesn't personally involve me, like it does you.

For being pathetic small-fry losers those two sure know how to cause trouble of epic proportions.

Maybe I'm just laughing at myself, the first LotR-related mailing list I joined was bitofearth, way back when. The first names I recognized in the fandom were VB, OB, and MsAllegro.
I sure know how to pick people. ;)

Isn't it illegal to use a company's or person's name unsolicited to press threats, legal restrictions, etc, albiet horridly fake and ineffectual? Maybe they'll be hit up for a small sum just for trying to use the actors'/companies' names without authorization for attempted personal gain or something?

P.S.
Acari, interesting thought, I study psychology. Could be an awesome senior thesis :)

...the trouble is that the affected person has to DO SOMETHING about it. And so far, apathy has been the ruling force in all this. The phone company didn't go after them for their unpaid bill (hundreds of dollars). The Portland Parks dept. didn't go after them for their unpaid bill (thousands of dollars). The Convention Center, as far as I know, isn't going after them for their unpaid bill/lost income from the Tentmoot cancellation (tens of thousands of dollars). I recently spoke to someone, who shall remain nameless, who was conned by Abby and Amy into unknowingly ripping off other people's money in the name of BoE, and isn't going after them.

And why should they--look what happened over Amy Player's identity theft charge. The sheriff on that case put together 200 pages of evidence against Amy Player to support a conviction, and the district attorney just let it all go, out of pure apathy. Sue and I went in to talk to him and we both left that office realizing that he Simply Didn't Care that Amy was a con artist. Unless the crime involves BIG BIG money or blood, the DA won't bother with it.

The celebs have bigger fish to fry. I'm sure they would much rather shoot movies and make promotional appearances, and even respond to fan gatherings all over the world that are begging for their attention, than file a complaint against these loonies and have to go to court over it.

I can see why Those Two/Three have no respect or fear of the law--why obey rules that aren't enforced? That has really been the most shocking lesson of all for me, in all this--that you really can do crimes and get away with it. And not because you're terribly clever and cover your tracks perfectly and so forth--on the contrary, you can be as blatant as These Two, sending a confession in the form of a fake CnD letter to all the people you conned, and still get away with it. LAME.
