Had to bump this up... "Andy" shows what a thoughtful, feminist "guy" "he" is.

Just read for yourself.

Compare that to the "grrrrrrrrls rulz" blather on her latest fake charity.

So... the fandom is infested with girls, for whom "Andy" expresses clear contempt. Nice. Then "he" turns around and claims to advocate for abused women. How can you have contempt for the same people you say you want to help?

How can the DAYD folks not recognize this? I don't care whether you accept that Amy Player was "Andy's" former twin sister but later became a complete stranger who nonetheless shared her innermost motives and habits with "Andy"... How can you read these hostile generalizations about females, and then accept that "Andy" respects women enough to want to empower them?

If YOU wanted to empower abused people, would you write denigrating remarks about them?

Can I just say that when Amy, as "Jordan Wood," first came to my house in 2003, "he" walked in my living room, saw my two pet guinea pigs (in cages), and shrieked? I hesitate to say "shrieked like a girl," because that would be redundant.

I guess shrieking at a caged rodent is not "Little bubble-headed" girly, especially for someone who claims to be making "his" first kill around that same time.

Sorry, sometimes I need to rant, too.

OK, I'm only sort of halfway in the HP fandom. As in, I only read the fic if it's either recced by a friend whose taste I trust or written by an author who I've already found out I like from reading her in fandoms I'm in more seriously. And I haven't seen HP fic that way at *all*. There is tons of excellently plotted dark fiction with very well characterized males. Most of y'all already knew that, but my point is that even a dilettante like me has found the good fic with plots and balls, so there's no excuse for anyone who's more serious about it claiming that all they can find is fluffy Suefics.

Also, I lol'ed at the image of her shrieking at caged rodents. Guess she never had a cat....

Frankly I think "HP and the Heirs of Slytherin" kicks WAY more ass than anything Amy could possibly imagine, but since I've never read DAYD, I can't make a fair comparison.

So, somewhere in all of that, I got sidetracked and found the [info]amy_player LJ with the looong "apology" post. And... the DAYDians should all be shown that, because it reads exactly like [info]thanfiction. My gods, anyone who's read anything by [info]thanfiction in his journal can't help but notice.

O.O I just looked at the "apology" post for the first time in a long while. Was that really four years ago? Sheesh. Time's fun when you're having flies.

And see, when all the original stuff was going on, I was a 22-23 year old college student who hadn't yet picked up a Harry Potter book, just barely knew about fandom, and was writing multi-chapter anime fic when I should have been writing essays about just what Ophelia's problem really was. When the "apology" post was written and posted, wow, I was about to turn 27, I'd been in the job I'm in now for about four and a half months. AFTER having gone to and quit grad school, come home and been through three jobs before this one.

I think I discovered that [info]thanfiction was a new incarnation of an old con-artist maybe a year or two ago. I've read Fandom Wank logs, and [info]turimel's LJ, and basically educated myself on the whole situation... I have yet to buy the book, but I probably will when I get paid next.

I'm 31 now, and the wank lives on!

I wondered, when I linked you to that FFR thread, if you'd seen it before. God, it pissed me off so much.

I came across an absolutely ridiculous application to a Potterverse sorting comm, too, that reeked of the same kind of hypocritical and self-important bullshit. Considering so many of Bitter Andy's detractors get slammed for the misuse of gender pro, it's ironic that Bitter's the one who seems to harbour the most gender-related hatred of all.

I need to stop wading through back-wank, for the sake of my blood pressure.

EDIT: Oh, d-uh. I suck at html. ALSO: I meant to post this comment to THIS entry, not the other one. So I guess it gets posted at both! :D

Since things have a way of ~vanishing~ on Teh Intarwebz, I 'capped that lovely [info]fanficrants comment for safekeeping. Here it be.

Edited to add screencap of said application, as well as some pontificating about it after being rejected, in case anyone's feeling masochistic.

"I need to stop wading through back-wank, for the sake of my blood pressure."

Exactly. Some people seem to think all I do is sit around my computer and track down Amy Player. I don't. I can't stand to read her crap--been there, done that, got disgusted. I'm sure "thanfiction" has a ton of verbal garbage out there that I could sift through. Not gonna happen.

People send me this stuff, and I pass it on, albeit usually with an angry reaction. That simple.

And another thing!

(Who's ranting NOW?)

Isn't it charming that Bitter Andy refers to females the way one would normally refer to rodents? By saying the fandom is "infested with girls"?

Also also, I don't know what the hell is up with the remark about the "sparkly gloves," but if that was a roundabout reference to/slam against Twilight (and HOW AWESOME WOULD IT BE IF A THIRD FANDOM WAS INVADED BY BITTERNESS???), it's pretty damn funny that BA has done so many commi$$ions of presumably fake fanart (gee, I wonder why none of them took more than three hours to trace paint??), especially since it was all "to raise the funds to fly a young man half-way around the world to meet up with his lady love."

Riiiiiiight. Raising money for airfare! Second (or twelfth) verse, same as the first!

Can you write a sequel now, please?

(And yes, I'm using an RPattz icon. It's Cedric from GoF. Sue me. ;))

And hey, Andy can be all dismissive and snotty about Twihards, but he knows they've got loads of money to spend on shit stuff. Have you ever seen the bad Twilight tattoos site? Unbelievable what people will get inked on their bodies so I guess expensive but awful art is one of their specialities.

Btw, this just kind of leaped out at me on the [info]amy_player apology post:

"If I am caught with so much as a toe out of place in a charity, organization, business, or online, feel free to light the pitchforks..."

If anyone gives you shit for "hounding" poor ickle put upon Andy, just throw that quote in their faces. Because he gave you (and the rest of us) tacit permission to go after him for new "sins".

(Also scary to realise that it was less than a year after said apologies that he just did the same old same old in HP fandom and hasn't stopped since. I guess the finding religion thing didn't stick -- or was just another lie.)

Tell me about it. Three months after Amy left that post, she received her fraudulent driver license in the name of Andy Blake. She says in there, somewhere, that she's undergoing the legal process of changing her identity, but the driver license sports a FALSE ADDRESS, of a nonexistent house on a real street... about a mile from her parents' house.

She was probably working on the forged birth certificate for "Andy Blake" while she was writing that fake apology letter.

[info]ragdoll

July 10 2011, 22:28:24 UTC 10 months ago

Unbelievable. About the only claims I take as true in that letter is that he was undergoing FTM transition and it's very sad that he can't even be honest about that now as evidenced by his claims of being a cis-born male (and his own weird homophobic and transphobic rants).

[info]turimel

July 11 2011, 04:13:02 UTC 10 months ago

Ragdoll, can I just ask you about that? Why, of all Amy's piles and piles of shit-stinking lies, do you accept that one particular thing as the truth?

I'm not trying to be mean--I'm seriously asking why you feel that way. You're obviously not the only person who does, and I just don't understand it.

Everything else Amy said in that journal was a lie. The Born Again bullshit, the Plans to Make Reparations, the whole 12 steps that she was promising... all lies. Whether she wrote it because she was Out of the Spotlight and couldn't stand it, or because her parents told her to clean up her act if she wanted to live rent-free at home, or because she was hoping to convince her Bit of Earth victims that she was reformed and wouldn't be causing any more trouble (and that way "Andy Blake" could start with a clean slate), is irrelevant. She did it for some reason that had NOTHING to do with her being sorry, or wanting to fix her prior mistakes.

The fact is, Amy learned as "Jordan" that having gender ambiguity worked for her, as a con artist--it added another whole dimension of confusion about her true identity, WAY better than a fake name/history/accent. So OF COURSE Amy would want to keep the gender-bending thing going. It was one of the few things that DIDN'T backfire on her when Bit of Earth imploded.

Given all that, why do you take that one FTM claim as true? Why does that seem any more believable than the million others that she's made that were frank lies?

Again, I'm not trying to put you down--I'm honestly asking here. Can you explain it?

I think I can answer, if I may interject (don't ask me how I got here, it was followed via F_W and then things got linkier and linkier, LOL).

Put quite simply, some FtMs are utter dickheads (no pun intended). And I say that as an FtM myself. As I read about this unsavory character, the only thing that kept popping to mind for me was the story of "Brandon Teena" (Tena Brandon/Tena/Brandon). He was the FtM whose story was told in the movie that won Hilary Swank her first Oscar (for Boys Don't Cry).

You see, Brandon (I'm just going to refer to him as that because right now on very little sleep I forget what he was really going by) was diagnosed with gender identity disorder, but his mother was extremely against the idea of her daughter "changing her sex". Tena in turn let his feelings come out in an overweening manner, seducing virginal girls who didn't know any better and stealing and forging checks in order to pay for the things he would lavishly dote on them. He even stole "the love of his life's" checkbook to buy the ring that he was going to give to her/to propose. Brandon was a consummate liar and he presented himself as male from highschool on up (for some guys it may start later on in life, like with "Jordan"/"Andrew"). The lies kept piling up against him until he had to flee his hometown for Lincoln, Nebraska. Again, he presented himself as male and people just thought that there was "something of" about this guy who claimed to be of age but who looked like a high schooler; his new teen girlfriend Lana sure didn't see anything totally weird about him. The stealing and forgery caught up to him though and he was arrested and booked under his birth gender and name (because he had not taken the necessary steps to change them) and the lies to Lana then exploded into more and more fantastic ones (anything from the idea that she was born a hermaphrodite to that she was a transsexual and was taking hormones). The lies caught up to Brandon in a huge way though when Lana's friends pantsed him in the bathroom around Christmas that year and then later on raped him...and then not so long later, murdered him, along with everyone he lived with (save for a young baby who was not harmed). (cont'd)

(cont'd)

That was the story of Brandon, but I only summarized it for you to illustrate that sometimes transmen--of the stripe of Brandon and Andrew--are true 'con artists': Truly attempting to mess with other peoples' lives for their own benefit. It's not being a con artist, as a transman, to want to legally change your name, especially if you go about it properly. However from what I have seen you write, it seems like this guy, "Andrew" is an FtM con artist who has no intentions of "going about things properly". I read in one of his screeds about how some "14 inch scar across his chest" was some idiotic battle injury or something...when it is likely scars from a double mastectomy, which is what transmen have in order to fulfill their transitioning. But it seems to me that Andrew was somehow able to con his way towards chest surgery but not hormones (because they're a lot harder to get without a legitimate medical history [controlled substance and all]...one could technically get a letter of recommendation for chest surgery after seeing a therapist once here in California because so long as you say you've lived x-years as male, then the Benjamin Standards of Care are loosened). I know this because I've been around those "con artists" who ID as either male or genderqueer...GQs don't normally insist that they are one gender and that their former name/gender was their "evil sister"...esp. not here in California where we have...well, a lot of trannies up in here, heh.

So as a "tranny" myself, I have seen some of the most vile behavior not at all unlike that of Andrew's pass me by in realtime. I don't know if it personality quirk or behavior influenced by having a "male brain" be socialized as female or what, but there is definitely something about these con artists that is particularly deceitful and reckless. Such recklessness got Brandon Teena killed, and it got this idiot shot in the foot. Personally if there wasn't a hole in that bathroom door I would totally suspect Andrew himself (but I am assuming that there was a hole in the door and the bullet trajectory forensics worked out/matched to Andrew's account).

As for people who might read this and get pissed off at me for what I said about Brandon Teena, well. What can I say? I can't ignore facts and the fact is is that he was a thief and a fraud separate from his transsexual identification...same as I suspect from this Andrew creep as well. No one would willingly go through a double mastectomy, a hysterectomy or hormone therapy "just to deceive people" (though I suspect that "Andrew" has only gone through the double mast., if even that).

Hi Turi -

I've followed your LJ for a while now and finally bought the book last fall (devoured over 2 days, not gonna lie). I can't believe how much crap this kid has shoveled over the years, but that post you linked really clarified something for me. No matter what this person is pretending to be, he seems to be exemplifying and even exalting the very worst of the species. Irish? Violent drunks who forcibly indoctrinate their children to their hate. Male? Uh, kind of like the Irish, except also dismissive of and insulting to women. Soldier? Embittered, war-loving creeps.

It's such a sad lack of insight into all these groups he's trying to be part of, and it's insulting to the very people he seems to want to emulate. Why not try to be the best of something, rather than embodying the worst, most shallow stereotype? I mean, I happen to have a particular thing for Irish soldier boys (the actual ones, I mean - I've been lucky enough to know a few) and this Andy Blake character would send me running in the opposite direction. Gah, it's so sad.

Welcome, Mel. Interesting insight.

Add to that the concept that in her first scam, she posed as a child who'd been sold into a prostitution ring and escaped. She's always claimed her parents abused her, her dad forced her to have sex with his friends to "correct" her lesbianism, yadda yadda. She painted Abbey's ex-husband AND Jason Eisenburg as raping, violent, enslaving monsters.

It is always about shallow extremes, isn't it?

Sad part for me is that I know she's doing it to me even as I type this--telling people how I'm only hounding her because I'm such a trans-hating homophobe. And as always, some people are buying that lie, too.
